Engraved memory lines, liquid scars revealed. The project proposes to reflect – through minimal architectural intervention – on the strength and fragility of nature and our environment. As Jean Nouvel once said “The future of Architecture is not Architectural”, an attempt to open the discourse of architecture outside of the realm of design and into a plurality of inputs and knowledge. Lake Imprint proposes to reposition Nature as a leading element of influence for the future of our built environment.

The Lang Nhot Lake, life source of the area of Dien Khanh, ebbs and swells with time, subject to seasonal variations and human influence. It is the cornerstone of all regional activities, imposing silent strength and a reminder of Nature’s primal role in society. From the initial sketches we were attracted by the topography contour lines, revealing the waters’ variations. Using local stone as building material, the lines are intermittently revealed, letting nature determine the structure’s final outcome.

The location of the pavilion ensures a full lake view, offering a place for contemplation, and an opportunity to repose, connect, and rethink of our relation as architects with nature.
