The residential complex of “la Tullerie” is located in a quiet area, next to the administration building of Bellevue, Geneva. It is composed of two identical blocks of 15 apartments within a public park serving the neighbourhood. The landscape of the park has been designed to retain the continuity of the public space and the immersion of the buildings within it.
The pitch roof and massing reflect the shape of the village houses of the Geneva countryside. The facade openings vary in density and colour according to orientation, the different sizes and positions offer a variety of views from the height of the horizon down to the park.
The typical layout contains three apartments, two with double orientation and one with triple. The apartments are well defined between night and living space.
The kitchens are semi-open and the loggias enlarge the living rooms, giving a feeling of comfort and spaciousness. The wet areas are belted around the vertical circulation offering a façade to the rooms and living rooms. The top floor is inhabited by a duplex, taking advantage of the pitch roof to create double height in the living room.
The vertical circulation design of a “bright room” benefits from natural light through an opening in the roof. The handrail, treated with a mesh net, enhances the brightness of this space. The bathrooms, placed around the central vertical core, benefit from the indirect daylight from a top hanging window.
