Located in an economically dynamic area in south Vietnam, Vinh Long aspires to high-quality living standards that will transform the area into a sustainable and innovative city, ready to welcome the growing population and industry growth. The Vinh Long New Town masterplan project further proposes creative strategies that preserve the site’s qualities while guiding the region into a sustainable future.

Inspired by the success of multiple international cities, the project will turn the administration center into an attractive area for its booming business industry, safeguarding the great living environment and therefore become the “locomotive” district of the new city development.
Strategically located less than 2 hours far from Can Tho’s and Ho Chi Minh City’s international airports which makes the city very easily accessible. The dynamic development of the region through its industrial parks, universities and technical centers predicts a rapid evolution towards a focus economic center. Furthermore, the diversity of activities around the Mekong River and An Binh island sets the city apart as a very attractive tourism destination.

Following Vinh Long City’s ambitious development, the Vinh Long New Town site will take advantage of the planned and ongoing projects. The future administration center will not only regroup the major and modern administrative infrastructures of the province, but also commercial streets and emblematic public spaces to be later connected between the old town and the future new developments.

Of 300 Ha, the future urban area is located in the middle of the projected city development area, delimited by the new administration center to the north and by the national road to the west, the site offers a direct connection to the important axis that links Ho Chi Minh City to Can Tho and via a vertical axis the Cai Cam River flows through the site making it a very important structural element.

G8A proposes a multipolar city inspired by European walkable cities and their environmental qualities. These dynamic and attractive cities are composed of compact and diverse urban fabric with a clear identity, articulated around public spaces and landmarks.

The Vinh Long New Town proposes a diversity of space with a high density of activities, the low urbanization and high green ratio gives liberty and flexibility towards innovative urban planning. River, canals, streams, orchards, fields and mangroves are well-appreciated characters of this wide territory promoting a healthy environment typical of the Mekong Delta region.

Vietnam is today facing challenges of a fast-growing economy. The urban scenery is evolving every day and new city developments are rising from North to South. For the last 20 years the urban evolution of Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang has brought new challenges that need to be address with viable long-term solutions. Indeed, these three cities are now facing pollution, traffic, climate and population issues.

However, today is not too late to look at new solutions in order to assure a well-connected network, a healthy alternative and a resilience strategy for tomorrow. Vinh Long New Town considers these possibilities and offers a long-term project with a positive urban land-scape.
