Designed in collaboration with The Embassy of Switzerland in Vietnam, the Geneva Room was created in celebration of the 50 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Symbolic of the strong cultural relations held since October 1971, the conference room is found in the newly constructed campus of the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam. This public research university is known as a prestigious institution, the training ground for future diplomats, leaders, civil servants, journalists and business executives.
The designed space of 250m2 is intended to house up to 100 people, attendees of presentations, educational workshop and events. The crisp color scheme, homogenous lighting and use of smooth stone is reminiscent of frosty alpine winters, transporting the user straight to Geneva. The Alps’ mountainscape replicated on the panoramic bay windows are adjusted in order to replicate the 360 view one would experience if standing on the South edge of Switzerland’s most symbolic lake. Depictions of Le Crozat, Mont Tendre, Grand Cret and of course Mont Blanc to the East conceptually unite and immerse the viewers.
Switzerland is one of the first western countries to establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam. The Geneva Room acts as a materialization of the connection between Europe’s diplomatic hub and Vietnam’s innovative teaching center.
